Uongozi Bora
The East Africa Youth Leadership&Citizenship Programme
The East Africa Youth Leadership & Citizenship Programme “Uongozi Bora” is a programme run by The DEPOT and supported by The Ford Foundation. The programme has been running for the last 6 years and we have so far run six successful programmes supported by Ford Foundation. To date, 250 youth around East Africa, have been strengthened by this programme.
This year, 2011, we are happy to say that we are running another programme for other up to 50 youth participants in December 2011 on a date to be confirmed.
Participants will be selected from the three East African Countries namely Uganda, Tanzania & Kenya. The selection process involves advertising in the three leading daily newspapers of Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda; the applications are received and shortlisted for interviews. The successful applicants who qualify and pass the interview stage are then accepted into the programme.
During these one week participants undergo a journey of self discovery and learning more on how to be better leaders and make a difference in their community, we give them also opportunity to experience and visit successful companies and projects for them to learn from the leaders themselves.
